Naturezones Wildlife Education Trust (NWET) is a wildlife field study centre and a Living Natural History Museum. It is a “not for profit “ organisation dedicated to education in the importance of sustaining and creating wildlife habitats as part of the Island's ecology. Increasing Biodiversity and the environment.  It provides training in nature conservation for all ages and wonderful outdoor opportunities to do voluntary work. A persons health and wellbeing is integral to all of our activities. More importantly is to understand that the well being of our planet is crucial to the well being of the human race.

      Most of the training at Naturezones is based on practical work using its ten acre site at Blackwater, nr Newport, Isle of Wight .

 

Our activities and projects include…

 

· Supporting the National Diploma. Work Experience in nature conservation and environmental land based studies.

 

· Duke of Edinburgh Award scheme

 

· School visits to NZ with topics linked to the national curriculum

 

· Workshops in wildlife gardening,

 

· A field study centre for visiting groups

 

· Wild flower plant nursery– training in plant propagation from native seeds

 

· Walk and Talk for visiting groups

 

· Volunteers of all ages welcome Hands-on conservation work. Improve your CV. Improve your health and well being

 

· Enrichment  Days. A Brush with Nature—art workshops inspired by nature

 Objects

1      To maintain a nature reserve for the education of people of all ages in the importance of creating, protecting and sustaining a bio-diverse range of habitats for wildlife.

2        To promote and offer guidance towards creating and sustaining areas of bio-diversity in rural, suburban and urban gardens.

3        To maintain and protect a designated SINC area (Site of Important Nature Conservation) representing a local natural history of the Isle of Wight.

 Naturezones operates a wildlife education centre in conjunction with various organisations, including the Isle of Wight College and local environmental organisations, and schools. We training people in the stated objects including, woodland management, meadow management, pond management and wildlife study. It also provides work experience to college students and facilities for teachers involved in wildlife education courses.
